The Swedish Work Environment Authority has issued new provisions that became effective on January 1, 2025. We will gradually update our website with current information based on our new provisions during the spring of 2025. In the meantime there may be outdated information and broken links on several pages.

Permit to work with certain chemicals

You must have a permit from the Swedish Work Environment Authority in order to handle certain chemicals due to the special risks involved.

This applies to:

chemicals included in group A in Appendix 1 to Chemical Hazards in the Working Environment, AFS 2011:19, provisions
chemicals included in group B in Appendix 1 to Chemical Hazards in the Working Environment, AFS 2011:19, provisions
certain pesticides in accordance with Pesticides (AFS 1998:6), provisions
asbestos in accordance with Asbestos, AFS 2006:1, provisions.

Substances included in group A cannot normally be handled at all. There are certain exceptions, but you must then have a permit from the Swedish Work Environment Authority.
