It is permitted to use the lawn mower if it is part of education or training, or if there is a young person who has been trained for it. Whatever the requirement, young people may use a lawn mower with an access device ("dead-man’s switch" or safety bar, i.e. a feature that causes the machine to switch off if you are not manually holding it), and just one cutter.
The employer must ensure that the minor has the mental and physical prerequisites for the work. This is especially important if a young person is to use larger types of ride-on mowers or the terrain to be mowed is hilly or has hindrances or other factors that may complicate the work. From and including the year you turn 16, you may work with power lawn mowers if the mowing does not involve driving on steep slopes. The required personal protection equipment must be provided.
